Privacy policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
This policy covers the CircuitStorm website at circuitstorm.petreldata.com. CircuitStorm is operated by Petrel Data Systems.
What we collect when you sign in
Signing in is the only thing this site currently does, and it is the only thing that collects anything about you.
- Your email address. Either the address you type, or the one your Google or Apple account gives us.
- Your first and last name, where the sign-in provider supplies them. Apple sends a name only the first time you authorise CircuitStorm, and never again.
- An identifier from your sign-in provider, so we can recognise the same account next time. We never receive your password.
We do not ask for anything else, and there is nothing else on this site to fill in.
Your IP address
When you ask for a sign-in link, your IP address is used to limit how many requests can come from one place, so the form cannot be used to send mail to other people. It is held in memory for fifteen minutes and is not written to a database or shared.
Cookies
We set no advertising or analytics cookies, and there are no third-party trackers on this site. Four cookies exist, all strictly necessary:
- Your session, kept for up to seven days, so you stay signed in. It is encrypted and cannot be read by scripts in your browser.
- Two short sign-in cookies, one each for Google and Apple, lasting ten minutes. They confirm that a sign-in finishing is the same one you started.
- One cookie recording that you asked for an email link here, lasting a day, so that opening the link finishes without asking you to confirm it twice.
Who else is involved
- Google and Apple, if you choose to sign in with them. They tell us your email address and name; their own privacy policies cover what they do with the fact that you signed in.
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts our systems and sends the sign-in emails.
- Heroku, which runs this website.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Your account and your choices
You can sign out at any time, which ends the session on your device and on our servers. Deleting your CircuitStorm account removes your registration for this application. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, write to support@petreldata.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
